The operator cannot win the prize
Direct answer
The house is allowed on the live board. The house is not allowed to take the contest prizes. If the person who runs the site could take the banner, nobody else would have a reason to play. The banner and text lines always go to racers who qualify and claim.
What are the two kinds of #1?
Board rank is a public count of verified friends this week. The operator can appear there. That number is information.
The contest prize is a 7-day homepage banner for a racer's website. The operator and the operator's contest code cannot claim it. Text-line prizes work the same way. This is written in the official rules.
Who gets the prizes?
- 2 verified friends: add a short text line and website on the homepage for the rest of the week.
- 3 verified friends and the top racer who is not the operator: tap Claim before the week ends to get a 7-day homepage banner.
A valid claim has no owner review and no approval step. If you do not claim before Monday 00:00 UTC, that week's banner is gone. A claimed banner stays up for 7 days, even into the next week. Features are not cash and not transferable. Step by step: how to claim the banner.
Why is the house excluded?
Leaderboards tend to fail in three ways: the owner wins, cash attracts farms, or #1 is a visit counter anyone can buy. ViralRefer addresses all three. There is no cash, visits do not count, and the operator cannot take the banner.
What is "Picked by ViralRefer"?
The operator may show a separate site under a "Picked by ViralRefer" label. That is an editorial pick, not a contest prize, and it does not replace the weekly banner or text lines.
How is fair play enforced?
Credits are verified on the server. Self-referrals, bots and shared-device farms do not count. The operator may hide a banner or text line that is abusive or unsafe. Hiding abuse is not a cash decision and does not make the operator the winner.
How can I check this myself?
Look at the board. If the operator is in first place, the banner goes to the top racer who is not the operator, provided they have at least 3 friends and claim in time. The banner eligibility tool and who can enter answer the common cases.
Why does this matter to racers?
When the house can win, small players stop trying because the outcome feels fixed. Excluding the operator means the banner always goes to a racer, so a real chance exists each week for anyone who can get three friends to tap.
This rule also protects the operator. A public board where the house cannot collect prizes is easier to trust, and that trust is what makes people willing to send their link in the first place.
FAQ
If the owner is #1, did they take the race?
No. Rank can be the operator, the banner cannot. It goes to this week's top non-operator racer with at least 3 friends who claims it.
Can the owner approve or deny my banner?
There is no owner review for a valid claim. The operator may hide a banner that is abusive or unsafe.
Is this a lottery?

Can promoters take the banner?
No. The banner is a race prize for /r/ credits only.
